DESCRIPTION:Glastonbury Abbey welcomes the public to a timely evening lecture exploring how ancient spiritual wisdom can help people remain grounded in today’s rapidly evolving digital world. \nOn Tuesday\, February 3 at 7:30 p.m.\, Dr. Sean O’Callaghan\, Associate Professor of Religious and Theological Studies at Salve Regina University\, will present “The Practice of Stability in the Age of AI” in the Morcone Center at Glastonbury Abbey. The event is free and open to the public; donations are welcome. A virtual attendance option is also available. \nDrawing on the 6th-century Rule of St. Benedict alongside contemporary research on artificial intelligence\, Dr. O’Callaghan will explore practical\, faith-rooted practices that promote stability\, balance\, and attentiveness in everyday life as technology increasingly shapes modern experience. \nDr. O’Callaghan is co-author of AI Shepherds and Electric Sheep: Leading and Teaching in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. Originally from Ireland\, he previously taught in the United Kingdom before joining Salve Regina University. DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 22 at 3:00pm for our 2025/2026 lecture series\, “Revisiting the American Revolution: Part II.” \nHow did Hingham’s free and enslaved Black population experience the American Revolution? Join local historian Paula Bagger as she unpacks previously untold stories of service both on the battlefield and the home front. \nAbout the Speaker\nPaula Bagger is a premier historian of Hingham history. In 2024\, she was honored with the Judith Kimball Award in recognition of her decade of service to the Society\, including groundbreaking research on artist Prince Demah\, people of color in Hingham\, and\, most recently\, Hingham’s 1776 census return. Paula’s volunteer service with the Society began in 2007\, and she has served in numerous capacities\, including a five-year term as its President. In addition to her work with the Society\, Paula is employed as an attorney\, arbitrator\, and mediator\, with a specialty in business and commercial disputes. Paula earned an A.B. degree in history from Harvard University and a J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School. \nAbout the Hingham Historical Lecture Series\nThe Hingham Historical Society Lecture Series captivates audiences with bold ideas\, compelling stories\, and fresh perspectives on the people and forces that shaped Hingham’s layered past. Hosted live at the Hingham Heritage Museum and streamed for remote access\, these dynamic talks bring scholars and authors face-to-face with the community.
